ok am simple guy
am thinking of up grading my canon 350d

i know the 400 replaced the 350
so has the 450 replaced the 400 or is it the 1000 thats replaced the 400

i would like to up graded which would be best for me i dont need fast con as i dont do sport or action
the live view would be a plus

would some be nice and tell me the diffrents in the camers i think it be the 450d but is the 1000 better ???????

and if it is the 450 hows that rate to the 40D in spec

but if you have a go at telling me this please make it simple

I recently went from a 350D to a 40D. I don't think there's a simple answer to an upgrade - and I don't know that following model numbers through will always give you what you want.

You clearly handle your 350D well and get quality pictures from it. I really would suggest you give the different models a try and see how they feel.

I would expect a choice between the 450D and the 40D is what it will come down to. I went for the 40D for a number of reasons that suit my photography, but handling is similar to the EOS 3 film camera which I really liked. Your needs may be different.

If you don't need the high frame rate of the 40D and were happy with the handling of your 350D - go to the 450D would be my suggestion.

I made the move to the 40D (from 350D) just before the 450D came out. Having handled both I think if I was making the switch now I would probably go for the 450D and use the money I saved toward some new L lenses (it would only be a small contribution though Smile ).

(I honestly don't think you will see any difference in print quality from either camera. I believe the 450D may be sharper straight from the camera, but after processing there will nothing to choose between them)

I think Brian is right that you won't see much difference in print quality. If you like your 350D handling and it suits what you do the 450D will probably be your preference.

I found some of the settings inconvenient, particularly on macro, but I still really enjoyed using the 350D. Unless there's something you really need the odd differences in specifications won't really affect you.

In the end they both offer great quality so I don't think you can make a bad choice.
