Crows taunting cat today. I have not seen anything like this before. I do not know what led up to this behaviour but the crows were ganging up on the cat for about 10 minutes. The one on the far side had nipped the cat's tail, just before this photo. The cat then wandered off slowly with the crows following it.

They've probably got young somewhere nearby.

I've never seen crows get quite that agitated over the presence of a cat but I've had them screeching and diving into my garden when the cats have been out there.

They'll also gang up on and chase away other, sometimes much larger, birds if they feel that their young might be threatened.

I was walking in our Town Park recently and was buzzed by a pair of crows. There was a fledgeling in the grass nearby... probably crash landed after its first flight. Mum and Dad followed me for about 20 yards.

The young crow is the one with the white streaks, been around with it's parents for a few weeks.
There are about 3 or 4 cats in the area, they are always wandering back & forth along the path in the picture, so I do not know what incident provoked this. No short grass nearby.

I watched a pair of seagulls threatening a Red Kite last week. It would have made an excellent photo but I did not have a camera with meSad

Many years ago magpies used to taunt my cat. He would try to chase one and the other would peck his tail. One day he came in the house with a big grin and a mouthful of black and white feathers Smile

This morning the same young crow was facing up to the same cat. The cat was not interested. I am assuming that the young crow is learning something?

This evening the same 3 crows were 'crowding' the same cat in the cat's owners front garden. Eventually the cat ran away.

We get a Red Kite around our area and it is often greeted by a gang of crows if it flies anywhere near there nesting trees- whatever the time of year. They dive and peck in turn, showing no fear. Mind you, the Kite will dodge and just continue searching the fields.
