I recently purchased the Olympus E500, which came with the 17-45 and 50-150mm lenses. Most kits seem to come with the 14-45 and 50-150mm lenses. Someone has inferred that the 17-45mm is inferior to the 14-45mm. On checking out the Olympus site it appears that the 17-45mm only comes as part of a kit package and not as a stand alone lens. The images I have taken up to now with the 17-45mm have been fine. Just wondering whether anyone else has used this lens and if results from it are satifactory.

I have the 14-54, that came with the E1, also have the 14-45 that came with the E300; Of the two I prefer the 14-54.

A kit lens will always be of standard quality but I have found that all the Olympus lens that I have had are good.

Have a look at,

Swings and rounderbouts..the 14-45 gives a wider veiw handier for landscapes but the 17-45 focuses closer which is better for close up photography Smile

I think you will find that the Olympus kit lenses are very good.
I had the E500 twin lens kit to replace my Canon 300D and have just ordered the E1 for a ridiculous price but it comes with the 14-45mm lens..now I have two of them !
