Olympus OM10 Self Timer Intermittant fault on 'manual' setting

I have been having a problem with the self timer on my OM. The timer will work on auto, but not on manual. On manual the shutter will just fire straight away. This is an intermittant fault though. It usually appears when my need for a self timer is at its greatest. All the rest of the electronics are working fine. Perhaps there may be a faulty switch/dry joint issue. It would be great to hear from anyone who's had this problem.

P.S i have inserted new batteries into the camera LR44 (A76 GP Alkaline Cell)

Cheers Paul.

Tried that just now. Sadly the camera just did a complete shutter cycle with no beep.

Did it use to work in the past? Can you remember , or have you just noticed this? If I remember correctly from my Minolta the self timer does not work when the camera is set on Manual. Please refer to the instructions book.
