I came across this website selling photography equipment at considerably cheaper prices than Amazon. If I bought my Nikon SB600 and Sigma 10-20 from there, I would save around 45. Is there any reasons I shouldn't purchase from the website? All products are from Hong Kong, is that an issue?

Thanks in advance Smile

Thats your issue, for the saving of that little I would stick to a UK based retailer for peace of mind and also to make sure your gauantee is totally valid, in many cases buying from HK invalidates it.

Bought a multitude of official filters and hoods from them; service has been A*.

45 for two items isn't really worth buying from HK.
Have you asked Ian Kerr for a price?

I bought a 7D from them 10 days ago at a cost of 1200.

It worked fine and I loved it, but last night, for no known reason it stopped reading the card, and I have tried 3 new cards.

No manufacturers guarantee...............I'm bricking it until I see how they are going to respond to this.

Ian Kerr is a member on here and has a site on Ebay.
He goes under the name of Kerso, very good and great prices.
I wanted to buy the 7d from him but he was out of stock, wish I had waited.

Oh well, th deed is done, just praying now.

Would you advise accepting a repair or should I look for a replacement?

Not sure you will get a choice as you have to send it back to HK, so you don't get EU type consumer protection, but you can always ask them for a replacement and see what happens.

By the way, they refund on VAT and Import duty if its charged, which has always made me wonder if they declare the full value on the package. Was yours declared at 1200?

MCgov I think Canonfans answered the reason why for the small saving you would be making... its not worth it.

Canonfan, I would advise if 10 days old to ask for a new one or even a refund but you got no cumsumer rights at all either never mind a manufacture gaurantee.. Hope it works out for you :-(
