Hi... we're lucky enough to live by the sea and thought it might be nice to share our view with others out there...

Has anyone set up an external webcam that releases videos via the internet... Facebook? YouTube?

It would need to be waterproof..we have decent WiFi which I think it could operate over. I assume it will need to be hardwired, but would look at battery operated...

I would like it to be available during daylight hours...it's not meant to be a security camera, more like the tourist resorts that have webcams.

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Many thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I've not done this, but would orgs like earthcam have any advice? The issue comes when lots of people try and connect direct to you webcam - the webcam won't be able to handle too many visitors. So may need a relay site - like earthcam to handle multiple visitors.

I do hope you get this going Smile

Good luck,
Stuart

you could quite easily use something like a raspberry pi with a webcam and stream live, or post tweets out regularly, there are plenty of tutorials on how to do this easily and cheaply

Have been tempted to dabble with the raspberry pi...and have seen references to it webcams...must take a further look.

I've identified some solar powered cameras that communicate over wi-fi...

Breaking new ground here....

Thanks for the help 😁
