Overlay missing

When I'm useing my 'brush' tool and 'graduated' tool I have lost the little box to tick that shows you were you going in red. Help please. Damian

The backslash key is the one you want \

Toggles overlay on and off

What software are you using?

If you are using Lightroom the letter 'o' will toggle the red overlay. Can't understand how you have lost the tick box.
