Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 - Zoom Trouble

I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 - and my wife has another. I seem to have messed around with the settings on mine and can no longer achieve max digital zoom. I have twice reset to manufacturer's original defaults but still can only zoom to 1600 while my wife's camera will zoom out to 2240.

can anyone please tell me how I can rectify this. On IA or IA+ mode max zoom is 800 on mine...1120 on my wife's.

On both cameras I.zoom and Digital Zoom are selected

Hi Douglas,

is this related to digital zoom settings - can you turn this on or Off?

Yes, it is digital zoom...which you can turn on or off, in my case it is turned on. We have gone right through all the settings on both cameras, comparing like for like...and the settings are identical on both units.

From doing this checking I think we have narrowed it down to the macro mode ...if I toggle the macro settings on my camera I can briefly get full zoom so I am beginning to think there is a fault in the switching.

Have a look at your user's manual page 197 onwards ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camera/om/dmc-fz1000_en_adv_om.pdf
and check that you have everything set according to the manual.

I also wonder whether your wife's camera has 'Extended Optical Zoom' enabled which would give her that longer zoom length.

Thank you very much for your responses...we have now established that there is a problem with the macro setting. All other settings are identical on both cameras but moving between macro, macro zoom and macro off will sometimes (but not always) bring back maximum zoom on my camera but always does on my wife's.

Thank you again...the camera is off for a service tomorrow.
