Panasonic M43 G5 - Face Recognition

I thought I'd try out the Face Recognition function on the G5 but am disappointed to find that it appears you have to register faces before it will work. It needs a face/faces to recognise in the first place.

I thought it'd be a great tool for candids, save keep having to recompose all the time, but it seems it will not work on unregistered faces. Does anyone know a way round this at all?
