PC Sockets

Good day to all!

I know that trying random flashguns on your hotshoe can have adverse effects. I have a hotshoe-PC Socket adapter, is there still a danger using flashguns through the PC socket from random brands?

Thanks in advance, hope you're all well.

Unless it has a safety feature built in then yes.

Do modern hotshoe adapters have this safety feature built in? I have an old ringflash you see and it would be fun to play with!

I doubt it but there's a gadget called a Wein Safe Sync which will isolate the camera from any high voltages. I use it with a couple of old Courtney studio flash units.

Edit - the unit shown in the link is described as 'hot-shoe to hot-shoe' but the unit I've got also has a flash lead socket. If you are thinking of getting one I would check first in case they've changed the design.
