I am in the market for a new camera, I allready have a Pentax so I am torn between a Pentax K500 and a Canon 600D, as I have len's for the pentax I am leaning that way at the moment, not having had a Canon before its a step into the unkown, any advice would be wellcome.

As you already have a Pentax and lenses it would probably be cheaper to stay with Pentax.

The Pentax K500 is excellent.

'Why are you thinking of changing?' is the pertinent question

Just stay with Pentax. All modern DSLR are very good and you will be hard pressed to see any difference in image quality changing to Canon. I don't see Canon have any major technical edge over Pentax.

Many thanks for all your comments and advice, I think I will stay with Pentax, it was that Canon had some bundled camera and lens deals but on closer inspection the deal was not as good as seemed.

I also have some Pentax lenses (plus some CZJ M42 lenses) and the K500 looks interesting. Well, possibly......
I'm not sure if you are aware that not only does it not have the weather sealing of the K50 but apparently it also has the Kx-style 'active AF point not visible in the viewfinder.' I don't know enough of the details, but if you weren't aware of it you may want to look into it before buying.

If you hurry you can get the original K5 for the same price as the K500 over at SRS Microsystems, bargain/steal of the yearGrin

Yes, absolutely a steal at SRS, K5 is a great camera and in no way inferior to any other camera, its probably better than most in that price range, just read the reviews, and one of the best OVF on an APS-C DSLR out there.

Not quite the same price Wink

While the price is 449, the K5 is body only, the K500 is with 18-55.

Yes I did notice that but the OP already has some Pentax lenses and the K500 is not available body only, it's a no contest really, a DA-L 18-55 can be found for as little as 25 on eBay while SRS sell them new for 39.
