Photo inkjet A3+ printers - which one??

Hi. At the risk of covering old ground (although I've looked through several forum pages without finding anything), and at the risk of opening a can of worms, please can I have some advice on which printer to go for at A3+ or larger? Have got bogged down trawling through review pages (on other sites as well - sorry guys!) so thought I'd ask for members' experience of different printers. Are Epson the best, or have any others overtaken them?

Many thanks
Anne

have a read here for some unbiased advice.

A lot depends on what you want to print - if you want glossy colour prints the recommendation will probably be different than if you want matt / satin "Art" prints on a range of different surfaces.

I'm in the latter camp and have been using the HP9180 for the last 18 months with great results, lo costs and lots of sales.

Others swear by Epson and Canon (the new Epson 1900 seems to be getting good reviews)

Budget will play a part in your decision too

Just before you go down this path...

Really check out the pros/cons of printing your own material compared to using printers.

The cost factor and the quality and ink prices all work out differently depending on what your looking for.

I have an Epson 2400 and find it great but in hindsight I would now use Loxleys or some other printers for the best results.

Any printer from Epson, Canon or HP will give excellent results. The differences worth taking into account could be; initial cost, running costs, media types supported, ability for roll fed printing, customer support,etc.etc.

My choice would be an Epson 3800 for several reasons but primarily for the larger ink tanks.

Can't vouch for any other makes, but I'm more than happy with my Canon Pro 9500. Smile

What ever you decide on don't ever buy refilled ink cartridges. They are a waste of money.

I've had good experiences with both Epson and Canon (haven't tried HP). I currently run an Epson 2400 and it's not cheap on ink but I like the control I have over my own prints vs getting them produced by another company - I can fine tune the output more easily.

I'd consider the 3800 vs the 2400 for the same reason justin mentions if you have the budget, space and volume of large prints to justify it.

Thanks for that.
