Photo Printing via Laser Printers

I have failed to get any consistent advice on printing photos using Laser Printers. There is a good spiel on Printerland on the technical side but no useful recommendation for printers. I am trying to replace a Canon Multi Function printer which is tasked with all sorts of work but has been pretty solid for photos, if physically fragile. My partner wants faster output (home schooling for example, plus business stuff) and I also want to be able to print colour photos. Is there a Laser MFP that gives good photo results? Assume a generous budget but over £300 and I might balk.

A colour laser printer will be fine for office graphics but not Photographs. I have dealt with this by having a laser Mono printer/scanner which I use for office type work including photocopying but I also have a specialist ink jet printer an Epson SC P600 for Photographs. This would be well beyond your £300 budget. I would suggest buying the faster laser printer for the office type work and getting your photos printed at a place like Sim lab which would actually work out cheaper than running you own photo printer.

I have a colour laser printer and as Dave_Canon says get your prints professionally printed and leave your printer for the office tasks.
With my colour laser you are limited to the paper you put into it so photo paper is a non starter.

Also most are limited to paper sizes well below 10 by 8 inches.

Len, are you referring to photo paper? Lasers will print a reasonable reproduction of a photo on "normal" paper but getting the density of photo paper is not so easy. I have a print of a photo on A3 made 20 years ago on a professional laser.

Laser printers are usually A4 ( which is larger than 10 x 8 inches) are you thinking of dye sub printers?

We had A3 sized laser jet printers in our office. Definitely not photo quality.

As Phil04 says, I think you may be getting confused with dye sub printers re maximum paper sizes.

Was a laser printer, big commercial beast, using normal laser paper. Not best photo quality but good enough for a memento of my motor racing days. Given up the laser all purpose idea - cost of the toner scares me! Probably the best bet for economy is ink tank.
