I quite like for a bit of fun and for printing framing, the ol HDR tone mapping thing. I've PE4 on the Mac which I find quite a handy tool. Lately however I have seen photographers using the Photomatix Pro version 5. Clearly one for me is free as I already hold an Essentials licence; the Pro version is going to cost me around 70. I've downloaded the Pro version and got a bit lost in it.

Question is does or has ... anyone tried both and would the Pro be worth the extra money .. or was it to you?

I've tried both and found the Pro version much more versatile; I'm considering investing in it as it's still (IMO) the best HDR software around.

Thank you Martin. Off to purchase. Using voucher code 'treyratcliff' and getting the discount difference as I already have the Essentials licence brings it in to me at 40.

Sounds like a good deal to me.
You can use Photomatix on single photos as well, not just bracketed ones. Use the 'Contast Optimiser' option for best results on single photos.

Have fun!
