Photomerge panorama issues on Photoshop Elements

The Photomerge command to create panoramas has been throwing up "some images could not be aligned" on almost all of my efforts. I have not changed my technique and kept overlap to around 30% as recommended, exposure on manual and tripod used. Even just using 2 images. It used to work without any issues, but now most of the time it reports this error. This is most frustrating - can anyone help?

I have used Elements for years and as you say it handled the panorama stitching very well.
I upgraded to Elements 2020 and it's awful.
Like you I keep getting can't be aligned messages and it has so many silly features that are very childish, not really for a serious hobby photographer I'm afraid.
There are stand alone programmes that will do panorama stitching, if you do a google search.

Just an idea but have you been doing anything such as ticking the lens profile corrections in elements raw convertor (assuming it has that tick box)? If so then try without using the feature to see what happens.
It shouldn't make too much difference but this can occasionally throw up errors in image stacking so maybe this could be the case here..
