It would appear that I'm destined to be beset with versions of Photoshop that don't want to work properly.
My subscription expires next March; in fact, I renewed it last time in the vain hope that at some point, my woes would be addressed but sadly, as one problem's been resolved (at least) one more's taken its place.

Have you tried installing and running on another computer ( e.g. a spare or a Laptop). I am not suggesting that this would be a solution but it might help identify the problem.

That had crossed my mind.
The only "spare" computer here's my daughter's laptop.
She hardly uses it these days so she probably won't mind. I'll have to ask her.
A so-called 'expert' on the Photoshop Family forum suggested re. my crop tool issues with v.21, that it was related to my now-aging graphics card yet that problem doesn't occur with v.22. Instead, other things aren't working properly so who do I believe?
