What with Family life and Covid restrictions I've been avoiding loads of unnecessary situations to see new people. But now fully jabbed and with Work talking about a partial return to the office via potentially busy commuter routes its also time to try and shoot a little more than just flowers and my Sons football matches.

So hoping to soon be in an organised risk assessed open space shooting people who want to be shot and who are prepared for me to faf around with light & props and still smile afterwards all in the search for that perfect picture Smile
There should be a mixed bunch of male & female models and other photographers to share the experience with from a safe 2M distance.

Thought I'd share my excitement and hopefully some half decent pics in a few weeks.

Is anyone else starting to shoot a little more than a few months ago?

Well good for you Jack. Smile

I may be shooting some outdoor concerts soon. Local rags occasionally print my efforts. Helps my motivation slightly!

I never stopped.

But then, although it's been a nuisance and my wings have been clipped a little, I haven't been particularly restricted by Covid.

Went to Castle Coombe Motorcycle races a few weeks ago and went to Salisbury Cathedral today. I have not had a holiday for over 2 years either so other than the recent shoots, it has mainly been garden birds and butterflies.

Need to get back to the street. Flowers and nature is fine, but I'm a city girl. Gotta get back out there.

Our U3A Photography group had its first full-scale meeting for nearly a year. Nearly a full turn-out, plus several other members with a particular interest in the location.

We visited a watermill that has been restored by volunteers, a fascinating site with a lot of variety of interest. They opened specially for us as a test run before they open the site up to the public in nine days time. Lovely people, home-baking, we had the run of the place; even the weather behaved. Football was not mentioned once, an added bonus. All outdoors, except for ordering drinks indoors, plus a some of us went inside for a few minutes to watch the machinery in operation.

The Trustees want pictures for their coffee shop walls, we may end up with our own permanent exhibition...

A lot of planning went into this - a site visit, full risk-assessment, outdoor seating provision. It was worth it, it felt good.

Just wrapping up the thread - The shoot was a great success for me. My edited Images are now being published here on ePhotozine, PurplePort and Instagram. In the end i got to shoot 5 different models in one day - Wow. What was great was that they all wanted to be shot and posed and suggested poses throughout; Each for an hour and were happy to try different locations.
Probably the best thing was having to think on my feet all day for new and interesting photo ideas.

I think I'll try a few more like this as its an easy to access package that delivers great opportunities - anyone else know of a farmhouse studio location with grounds where you can roam?

I am now running a local photography competition. Smile We have a theme which helps to focus (!) minds a bit.

I'm hoping we can get some group shoots going so that people can inspire each other, rather than it being a lone activity. The competition runs until well into September. Hopefully we'll get a few days of decent weather but it's unpredictable.

I started a new project not so long ago using double on camera flash and a Pegear.

I need to get extra close for this one Smile
