Portfolio, Showcase, Photo gallery or Album

I have recently also started using Albums on ePhotozine. Its raised a few questions to me, firstly how i understand the different areas:
Portfolio - all the photo's you upload over all time into the main photo gallery, for public sharing, votes, comments etc
Showcase - your fav selected 16 photos - selected from your portfolio
Album - User creatable albums - you can upload direct to albums (100 per month limit), Its a little more roundabout to upload to albums and there is no adult challenge, no votes possible. You can though push Album photos into the main photo gallery.
I'm using an Album to record daily images mostly just for myself, and the portfolio/gallery for photo i want to share - Do other users find Albums useful ?

Yes, I've used albums from day one. It can be easier to find an image without having to scroll through every upload, or perhaps you haven't tagged an image well enough. I like to keep various categories together, too.
You can also put images you want to record, but not necessarily use elsewhere, in the Blogs. You can't upload to anywhere else from the blogs though.

FYI:
All images you upload to albums will be automatically displayed in your pf as well - the only exception is images uploaded to a private album. Those remain FYEO.
Any adult images uploaded to 'open' albums will have to be tagged even if they are not loaded to the galleries as they will be on open view in your pf as well. Images in pf's need tagging, not just ones in the galleries as all pf's are open to juniors and visitors to the site.

Ah I see I'd missed that you could create albums as private or public.
Also i see now you can tag adult images when you upload - but its hidden away on a non mandatory options tab. And you can also edit the EXIF information - e.g. i could make a mist water shot look like it was shot at 1/8000 sec
This is interesting thanks
