Postcards

Isabel's gallery upload today got me thinking, well something has too.
A few weeks ago the local card shop asked if they could use some of my images on postcards for Seaton Carew, not a problem.
But do we still buy postcards....The lady who owns the shop told she'd been asked for some last summer and thought she'd try stocking a few to test the waters.
Anyone remember foreign holidays... especially before emails and social media.
We'd spend a while choosing a writing cards to send home. Generally getting home before the card arrived.
Does anyone still send postcards, or buy them for that matter.
I don't.

Quote:Must be at least 30 years since I bought a postcard.
To be honest I usually criticise the picture on the cards like us photographers do!
Quote:Same here. That must be about the same as when people in the office stopped senfing them too. There was no point on short breaks..
Garish colours that were completely wrong, boring hackneyed views and taken in light coming from over the left shoulder at midday in June. Wish I wasn't there then. Though most people's phone piocs won't be that great anyway but at least it won't cost them anything and they'll be blissfully happy..
There was an interesting account of postcards in their heyday in Eammon McCabe's photo series on BBC4 which is worth a watch when it comes round again.
