Price of film on the high street

Quote:I was looking forward to the release of the new Ektachrome 100 film, until I saw the price online....around £13 per 35mm roll!...…..Hopefully Kodak will find a way of lowering the cost since I cannot see it taking off at that price.
Unfortunately the real world of economics suggest that's unlikely, since an introductory cheaper price would be the way to entice people into buying the film. E6 processing is also confined to quite a small number of companies nowadays, while the size of even a single roll of film means a small parcel postage cost of £2.95 to send it off 2nd class, and that means saving up a few films as the postage cost will be the same.

I fear you're right. Already I've gone back to mainly black & white or colour neg., since it's cheaper and easier to process yourself. I've also found the processing quality of some labs to be erratic to say the least.
