Printing with Windows.

When I want to print an image using the built in Windows printer dialogue, (right click on image, then "print" from drop down) I'm faced with this:

(The black "border" is part of my desktop; the important bit is the printing window.)

The drop down menus, as shown, still work but as you can see, a fair bit of the window's missing.

This happened once before, probably a year or so ago and I took no notice, working. correctly, on the premise that it might eventually right itself which it suddenly did.

Today, however, it's back.

I can live with and it's still usable but I don't know why it's happening.

Any ideas . . . ?

Is your image smaller than the paper size at the top? And what happens if you try to enlarge what you have to fill the white rectangle? These are only suggestions as I always use Lightroom which enables a paper size and an image size to be 'united'.

Thanks Angie but if you don't use it, you won't know what's wrong.

It should look like this :

On my screen, half of it's missing.

Try ctrl -. This should “zoom out” until you can view all.

Actually "ctrl +".

Thanks anyway bit that magnifies the entire screen which isn't necessary.

What's wrong is that the Windows erm, window isn't displaying properly.

Compare it to the second image, (lifted from Google.)

Try Options>Display and under Scale & Layout it says "Change size of text, apps and other items" there is a percentage figure. Try reducing that figure until the full screen is displayed.

Oops! Not sure why I put Options. It is Settings>Display. Sorry.

Not that either, unfortunately.

It's not the size/scale of the whole screen that needs adjusting, it's simply the small windiw upon it.

Can you adjust the size of the window? Hover the mouse over a window border and try to drag it one way or the other.

No. Tried that.
I fact, I've since found another window; the "colour management" on from the control panel, that's similarly afflicted so I'm guessing all similar windows will be the same.
It must be to do with the way in which they're displayed but I've no idea what.
And why did it occur a while ago, then rectify itself?

In the 'Control Panel' under 'Appearance and Personalisation' I have a control button for my Display Adapter, which in my case is a Nvidia, which, when clicked on has some settings which may help you out. Worth a look if you haven't already done so. Might also be worth looking at the 'Device Manager' to check that everything is OK.

I see from the screen shot that you have no Restore or -(close) buttons showing. If this is the case with all Windows progs, try Ctrl, Shift and Escape buttons together.

That opens Task Manager but then what?

Sorry, it worked for me, but try this:-

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to start Task Manager.
When Task Manager opens, locate Desktop Windows Manager, right click it and choose End Task.
Close, minimize, maximize buttons missing Internet Explorer
The process will now restart and the buttons should appear again.

Thanks.
The first bit was straightforward, although t made no difference but I don't know what you mean by the above.
