Problem with cursor colour in Photoshop

Hi - my wife has Photoshop CS6 on and when the cursor is moved from a light area on the image to a dark area, the cursor which was dark on top of the light area does not change to a light one - meaning that she cannot see it when the cursor is on dark areas of the image.
However, on my version - it works fine going from dark to light and vice versa as it moves across the image.
We have tried re-setting preferences etc but still no joy
.
Can anyone help as I have trawled net with no success on this problem?
The only limited success was with re-starting Photoshop - not very efficient and I am hoping I cannot see the wood for the trees - TIA
many thanks
Dave

I guess a question would be, did it ever work? (same version of CS6 on each machine? Is one machine newer than the other?)
Try turning off (or on) use of the GPU.
I believe initial versions using GPU had some issues with drawing the cursor, especially at large sizes. I think I recall color issues as well like you're describing.

I too have never seen the cursor change colour - it has a black outline which doesn't show when on a dark screen but does show on a white screen. If you are using Windows then it may be their settings for 'Cursors' rather than PS. Top left on the PS screen there is a paint brush with a small arrow at the side. Right click on this and in the menu which appears click on 'Reset all Tools'. Occasionally the tools settings are corrupted - not sure why and I think it is better now in PSCC but it was very bad in CS6.

The cursor is white when over dark areas and changes to black over light areas. As far as I can remember, PS has had this feature for many versions now and I am not aware of this being in the settings but thought it was automatic. It is puzzling that some have this feature and others do not. I would have suggested that Dave tries the Adobe forum but noticed that he had already done so with no answer. I also found another post in Adobe which was similar but it had been removed. This does suggest that there is perhaps an obscure bug that only affects a few.
Even when the cursor operates correctly, I do not find it ideal. When in an area of tones that are just lighter than mid grey, the cursor changes to black but is very hard to see (a white cursor would not work either). I have often thought that it must be possible to automatically change the cursor to a bright complementary colour in these circumstances. I asked adobe for this at least 7-8 years ago and notice that at least one recent Adobe post raises this issue but no answer.

Quote:In preferences if the painting tool cursors are set to 'Standard' or 'Precise' then they do not change when moving over different tones, if set to 'Normal Size Brush Tip' or 'Full Size Brush Tip' it will change when moving over different tones...
It doesn't for me. The brush outline is black with a white border, and you see whichever bit stands out most again the background.

That is strange, I have just checked and it certainly does change, that is on a Retina Mac, but the OP is Windows, there must be something else that affects it, for the life of me I have no idea what.
