Oh, the world is all too rude for thee, with much ado and care;
Oh, this world is but a rude world, and hurts a thing so fair;
Was there a nook in which the world had never been to sear,

One I'll always remember from a Chief Engineer I sailed with when chastising (the polite word for it...) a junior engineer for the latest item he suspected he'd wrecked in the engineroom...

"Typical Engineer, if you can't eat it, drink it or F**** it, you BREAK it..............................you've broken it haven't you..."

....and also on an engineering theme...I once heard that..."Experience gained is in direct proportion to the amount of equipment wrecked..."
