Hi Guys,

does anyone out there have a Nikon Z6 and have used Rear Curtain Flash with it ? If they have can you tell me where to set this.

I have been through the menus but cannot seem to find it anywhere.

Mark.

The flash control is in the Photo Shooting Menu>Flash Mode. Under that menu item you have the option of:
Fill Flash, Red Eye Reduction, Rear Curtain Sync or Flash Off.

Note that this menu item is only available with the mechanical shutter. It does not work if you are in Shutter, High Speed Extended.

Hope this solves your problem.

Glad I could help. I have had my Z6 for a month and I am still finding things out. Stellar results from it though.

By the way, you can adjust the flash settings on the rear LCD by pressing the "i" button.

Cheers

aaaha...I see it.....You're a genius.

While I have you there. I have added lots of items to the custom menu for myself, however I went to add another one today and I the Add Items is greyed out and when you try to access it you get a message "his option is not available at current settings or in cameras current state"

I have never seen this before. I am on Manual mode so I don't know what its referring to. Any ideas ?

Mmm, struggling with this one. Are you referring to adding items to My Menu? The backgrounds to Add Items, Remove Items and Rank Items are grey but still function. However as you are getting that standard warning there must be something else. The Manual says that you can add 20 items to My Menu. Have you hit the limit by any chance?

Beyond that I am out of ideas. Pressing OK on the Add Items should give you a list of all the other Menu headings and then you choose what to add.

Sorry, I will sleep on it.

I've encountered that on my Z7.

I don't know what it means either.

I have 20 items in my menu. So that must be it.

See Keith, I was right....you are a genius. Even when you don't know...you do....Tongue

Thank you Mark. Perhaps I am brighter than I ever thought I was. Having said that, I do enjoy trouble shooting and am pleased that I hve been able to help you.

Now Jester, what is it you are trying to do when you get the warning message and I shall see if I can sort it?

Thanks Keith.

As I said above; I've encountered the same greyed out option as Mark.

I've a feeling that it's for the same reason.

When I got the camera, I spent about two weeks setting it up, just getting used to it and I added loads of stuff to "My Menu," most of which I don't actually need so there's every chance that I've also got twenty options in there.

OK Jester. I hope it is as simple as that. The Z6 & Z7 are certainly more complex than the Nikon DSLRs.

I love my Z6. I have it about 18 months now. Did loads of research before I bought it and none of the "cons" mentioned in reviews have bothered me. I moved from a D7000.

The only thing I would change is the way the back screen flips out only in one way. So if you use it in portrait orientation the screen is flipping out sideways.
