Rechargeable Batteries

Yes they do - and recharge a flash quickly - but do not have the stamina of NiMH [approx 60-70% equiv mAh]

They can also REALLY overheat under heavy use. Some 'togs have reported battery case temps so high [~85degC] that they melted the speedlight and damaged its circuitry.

Incidentally, there are 2 sorts of NiMH:

Standard NiMH - High Capacity, Fast Recycle, Discharges 10% over the first 24 hours then much more slowly over longish period of time @ up to 1% per day. [Generally Energiser, Powerex, GP e.g. 2700-3000 mAh batteries].

Low Discharge NiMH - High-ish Capacity - but lower than the standard NiMH, Fast Recycle, Low Discharge over long periods of time - still has 75-80% after a year. [Generally Eneloop, GP ReCycko, Imedion e.g. 2000 mAh batteries].

Bottom line RoT [Rule of Thumb] is, if you're an occasional flash user then the LD variety is probably best. If you're a regular flash user then standard is probably best.

Caveat Emptor - do your homework on the battery type before you buy.

PS

After long perusal of the interweb thingy - the 7DayShop batteries are made by different manufacturers to the lowest possible cost. Some are junk, some are OK, none are wonderful, especially if quick charged using a cheap charger. You probably use a cheap charger if you're too mean to buy decent batteries. Play Russian Roulette with them if you like a gamble Wink
