Removing the lens hood from a Tamron 18-270mm

Well I have just watched a YouTube video and it is removed by an anti-clockwise turn. If yours isnt responding to an anti clockwise turn then I am guessing that as this is quite an old lens that you bought it second hand which then suggests that the hood has become jammed. You may have to break the hood to remove it - better the hood than the lens - and fairly cheap to buy a replacement.

On the Tamron lenses that I have the lenshoods have a quite firm click stop at the end of the rotation when you put them on.
Suggest that you remove the lens from the camera, hold the barrel in one hand just behind the lens hood and give a good firm sudden (not violent) twist with the other hand.
If this doesn't work, then as above, it may well not come off without breaking it. (Or why can it not be left on?)

Quote:Note to self: Remind me to never buy a Tamron lens.
Tamron lenses are actually in the main, excellent. I have two and have never had any problem removing the hood. They have both functioned perfectly throughout and have travelled many miles with me. I suspect that this lens has been knocked or dropped to cause this problem. One report like this does not cover a lens' capabilities.
