Replace Nikon D80
Looking to replace my Nikon D80 with something a bit smaller to take trekking with me.
I would also like to do the usual holiday pictures (landscapes and street) as well as portraits. Weatherproofing would be a bonus as this summer I will be trekking in Iceland so rain is definitely on the cards.
Currently thinking of either a Sony a6500 with the 16-70 Zeiss and a Sigma 30mm lens.
or... an Olympus e-m 5 mk ii. However, the Olympus is getting long in the tooth so maybe wait for the mark 3 to come out, (if only I had a crystal ball and could tell when it will be released).
Any others I should think of???

The Oly e-m5 Mk2 had just had a firmware update so is pretty current and the sensor is still fine for most amateur requirements. A Mark 3 is rumoured for the autumn but no clarity on specs yet but may have the 20 mp Pen F sensor and a few minor updates but after the e-m10 Mk 3 which to some was a downgrade don't expect too much if you wait. For my money it would have be an e-M5 Mk 2 with the Oly 12-40 PRO f 2.8 lens.
Quite a while back I went from D80 to D300....(which is now considered “obsolete” but nobody told the camera that, and it’s still capable of taking the same great pictures it did when brand new....).
Lately though, I’ve wanted to lighten the load...(obviously an age thing I’ll not admit to...) and after much deliberation, chosen the Sony alpha 6000... and obviously, there are more recent developments to this family, 6300, 6500 etc. but 6000 was enough for me. I was taken with, obviously, the smaller and lighter weight, and the fast autofocus and tracking, with retention of an APS-C sensor (as in D80/D300 etc.). Still exploring it, but warming to it greatly...
Not so sure if it warrants the expense of that Zeiss lens, but the 18-135 Sony lens sounds good...I’m still stuck with exploring the “limitations?” of the 16-50 kit lens...so I’ll choose later...anyhow, plenty of youtube clips to confuse you further...!
P.S. the D300 will remain for its absolute versatility, familiarity (erm...and the lenses I have...) but I’m prepared to learn more about the Sony....

Have you considered Fuji ?
There are a few "best buy" lists for digicams on the site here "clicky"
Quite a lot smaller is the Nikon 1 system.
