Replacement for Canon G11

I'm a bit out of touch with recent camera models, so looking for a bit of advice on a replacement.
My daughter's Canon G11 died recently after a long and eventful life. I did an autopsy but couldn't find the problem. After we laid it to rest, I gave her my old 40D and 75-300 lens to try out, but she needs something a similar size/weight/performance to the G11.
I also tried her with a little Panasonic Lumix I bought a couple of years ago, but she found that difficult to control, and probably a bit too small.
Can anyone recommend a natural replacement for the G11 (which itself replaced an older G5).
I was looking at either the Powershot G7 X MkII or the G5 X
Or should I just try and find a second hand G11 ?
TIA

Oooh, i feel your pain. I had 2 G9s (one stolen one lost), then followed up with a G11, but i found it hard to find one, even second hand, quite a few years ago.
You don't say which Lumix you tried, bit i have the TZ100 as my handbag camera and its very easy to use. And with the 1" sensor gives better quality in low light.

The G11 was given to me by my insurance company to replace an original G5 that got damaged - at the time the G5 was out of production and they decided the G11 was an acceptable alternative (no complaints from me!). So between them, we've had a LOT of service

The Lumix was the TZ70. I think she finds it too small and the controls a bit fiddly. The G11 had a nice bit of bulk to hold onto

I see the new G5X is smaller than the G11 in every dimension by about 5mm.

I found the G11 excellent for macro work, which is one of the main reasons I'm going to hang on to it for as long as possible (and, as you say, the bulk is nice to handle). There are quite a few used for sale on ebay, which is where I got mine many years ago, and it's been perfect.
Other than that all you can do is go through specs and try a few out in a shop. It's quite a minefield - there are so many good compacts around these days.
