Can anybody suggest me the best possible way without loosing quality to resize an image of 25mb (6000x4000 px) to 4mb with minimum 1000px on the longest dimension...

Or is there any dedicated software beside photoshop to do the same...

Hi Clicknimage,

If you have Photoshop it can be done via the drop down under image.
Just select image size and fill the data.

Hi Clicknimage,
Have used {hotozoom Pro for this, sharpness is improved when used for reduction. Various options for reduction including pixel.

Somnath, you say you want a minimum of 1000 pixels on the longest side. My approach would be to resize to 1000 pixels and see what that gives in MBs. If significantly below 4 MB, you can increase pixel size until you get to that level. If above 4MB then reduce image quality until you get there.

This might help but the narrative is a little on the east side and his explanation is not brill.

Trial and error with the Image size box in PS CC, set it to 'Preserve details 2.0' - 1367 pixels longest side x 1022 pixels shortest side, gives an image of 4Mb. This seems to work whatever the pixels/inch ratio is.

I've taken a screenshot in Lightroom of the export dialog.
You can specify dimensions and put a limit on file size.
I don't have PS on this machine but I guess there's somehting similar.
