Resizing photo in Affinity Photo

I do not normally use Affinity but just tried to do this and initially I ended up with a very pixilated image. I then realised that will I set the sizes to 45x35 but it defaulted to pixels. I changed this to mm and then seemed OK. Using PS you see the image immediately smaller but Affinity seems to automatically magnify so it does not appear to have done anything but rechecking the image size it is correct. I then had to use the Task manager to stop Affinity. I have found that it is awkward to use compared to PS. While I could probably live with it if I had no choice, but I do, so will stick with Adobe.

I'm not sure about the 'goes blurred' as I haven't encountered that in the near 2 years I've been using Affinity, but as Dave says, when you resize, the document on the screen doesn't actually change size, but if you open 'Resize Document' again, you'll see the new sizes are registered.
Dave mentioned having to use Task Manager to stop Affinity - again, something I have never encountered...
As an aside to Dave, I found the transition from PS to Affinity very smooth and intuitive as A is built deliberately to mimic PS in many ways. Horses for courses, of course.

Horses for courses, indeed.
However hard I've tried, I cannot see how a transition from PS to Affinity could be described as smooth or intuitive.
They're streets apart.

Quote:Malc, up to now Affinity has done everything I asked of it, as you say very similar to photoshop. But this resizing problem should be a simple exercise, but its proving a headache

A well-worn suggestion when it comes to solutions, but have you thought of doing a re-install?
I can't think of any options that you can look at to change when it comes to resize document, there are no options other than those in the field that appears...

Cracked it, I used the crop tool you have to change the mode to resample at the top, followed by your required sizes. in my case 35mm x 45mm, passport photo size, I then opened a new document at 6 inch by 4 inch, and copy and pasted my passport picture on to this. you can get 8 on a 6x4, so now I go in boots chemist print it for 40 pence on there machines. and I have 8 passport pictures.
I have done this many times using photoshop, and always been accepted by passport driving licence etc. Been a tight Yorkshire man I refuse to pay £7 in a machine in supermarkets etc
