I recall them visiting a pub near Xmas when I was playing in a Skittles match which involves at least 24 people. After the SA man who was not very pushy collected very few donations, the Landlord boomed out put your hands in your pockets guys, the SA does a great job and if you want to buy any more drinks at the bar, I expect you to donate. After the message from the Landlord, everyone was very generous and the SA took away the largest donations ever from that pub. It may be a donation to alleviate our consciences but definitely worthwhile.

Their newspaper was ? " The War Cry." They used to visit pubs in NE England regularly on a Fri/Sat night. Always I put money in their boxes. One Friday night they entered my local, digging into my pocket for change, and not wanting the newspaper, I was approached by a female member. She offered the newspaper and when I said, " No thanks....." and before I could put coins in her box, she said, " I suppose you have it delivered." That put me off them for a while.
