I am thinking of buying a Nikon SB-600 some time in December, but does anyone have an idea when the SB-700 will be coming out, and at what price?

Two other flashguns I'm consdering are the Jessops 360AFD or Sigma EF530. Would I regret buying either of these?

The SB-800 and 900 are already out - have been for a good while. Not sure there ever was a 700......

I'd go for one of the Nikon strobes as you get the option of off camera flash.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I meant a replacement flash for the SB-600 though, not one in a higher lineup.

A flashgun is only useful when you have it and use it. There is no point of waiting for something you don't know will be released or when it will be released or how much.
One thing for sure, it will be more expensive than the 600. But then if you can afford a 600, why look for others like the jessops or sigma.
Just go for it, get the best you can afford. Buy wise, buy once.

The '600' is a good gun Jon - you won't be disappointed.

I'm for the SB600; fast, enough power for most situations, and great for fill.

I've got an SB 800. Smashing piece of kit. I hope to some day understand how to use it properly!

I'm not sure the SB 800 is still being manufactured as it was superceded by the SB 900 which is excellent, although I'm thinking of an SB 600 as a second flash.

Although I did read an article recently where Damian Lovegrove was praising the Nissin flashes.
