School Photo Layout Template

17 Oct 2008 3:01PM
My daughters school teacher saw some of my work and loved it now she wants me to take pictures of the entire school. I'm not really nervous about taking the pictures more about processing them afterwards. The school has about 500 kids and they want a one print layout with the scool emblem and name on each photo and all the photo's must be combined on a page no larger than a A4, the problem is I have no Idea how to create something like this, and then make a template so I can easily place each childs photo into the different frames on the page. I use Photoshop CS3 for all my work and this is also the only programme I own. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Just to clarify:

You are trying to place 500 photos on one page of A4?

I would think that having to add the school emblem and name to each image and combine all 500 on a single aheet of A4 is'nt do-able.

although the images might fit, something like 20 across x 25 down might work, but there going to be small.

You could perhaps add the emblem and name as a watermark / copyright type thing to each image.

Choose the photo then....File > Automate > Picture Package......Edit Layout.Choose the layout option you require eg.1 X 5x7, 2 X 2.5 x 3.5 , 2 X 2 X 2.5 or

you will need to delete zones until you have the amount of photos you want on the page....select and drag to resize /orientation, the save the template.

Do you mean all the images of each child on an A4 ?

Something like one 5x7 and two smaller ones on 500 A4 sheets.

If not then I would agree with above, they would be too small to see.

Why on earth would the school want an A4 sized photo with 500 thumbnails on with emblem...thats just daft.

...because, silly, A4 fits in a folder.
If the school secretary suddenly needs to find out what Maureen Flannel looks like she merely has to look on her A4 'finder poo pill sheet'....albeit with a powerful microscope.

A scholastic moniker.

I don't know about a microscope....the Hubble Telescope may be more appropriate....

It could be an A4 micro-fish sheet, then no problem getting all 500 on Wink

Thanx CathyT & Bppowel, I do mean each child seperate on a A4 page with several photo's of that child in different sizes. A Large one 2 smaller 4 ID document size and a bookmark, is what the school is used to. Any ideas for backgrounds. I was thinking of somehting a little bit old school... see the headmaster of the school doesn't like the extra bright light on the kids faces that they have been getting with the previous photographer and they want something uniqe, I have an antique school desk at home, so if I put that in front of a classroom blackboard and write on the blackbord the grade and class no, I think it could look a little bit more vintage???
