Screen settings - help

I have just noticed a neat little bar at the bottom of the page to help with monitor calibration, so I had a fiddle with my screen settings...... (like you do when you havn't got a clue what does what!!)
My screen (ordinary Dell CRT type) has the following choices:
9300K general use
6500K for image management
sRGB for colour match
user preset

The image management setting is currently selected but is that the right one to use? What are the merits of the different settings?
Thanks Merille

I'm not an expert on these matters, but generally speaking, 9300K will give you a bright screen, and is suitable for things like using microsoft office applications; 6500K is a better setting for photo editing, particularly if you want to produce prints from your files; sRGB would be useful if your digicam jpeg files are shot using that format, ie, colours recorded from your camera files would be correctly displayed on your monitor.

There are probably others on this forum who can give far better technical explanations than I can, but hopefully, the above gives some idea of how the sifferent settings could be used.

Thanks for your reply Phil,
So I'll stick with the 6500K setting then,
