(This is not about altering the Google Photo account settings on the phone app).

I take an SD card with recorded photos from a digital camera, and place in a card reader plugged into the phone by a C type USB connection (or transfer by the Fujifilm app) to the mobile phone. I then open the Google photos app and upload the images from the SD card. The problem is the uploaded files are very small.

The question is how do you set a mobile phone to upload full size images over a wifi connection?
Note I have also tried to upload full size images using an Apple iphone but this had exactly the same result, the uploaded images are very small.
This must be simple surely to upload images to the cloud at full file size, or with minimum reduction.
Your repplies will be much appreciated

Have you tried loading one at a time? I am wondering if it is the size of the large upload which causes the phone to downsize them. Have you tried simply emailing them to yourself from computer to phone? This is the route I use when wishing to have photos from my camera on my phone. (And vice versa).

I have to wonder why you're uploading images to Google photos via your mobile rather than your computer?

Thank you for your replies.
The reason I wish to solve this issue is that there are occasions when away from base that it would be handy to be able to upload images at a reasonable quality file size.

The question has also been asked by a relative that has a good digital camera and an Iphone, but no computer.
All suggestions appreciated

I dont upload from a phone / or SD card direct to any sites, but when I email an image my android phone offers me options of resize ( two options, smallest or medium ) or send full size, your mages shot on your camera may be to large for your phone to handle so it may be reducing them acc

Get some webspace and upload via an FTP app (eg FTP Cafe) from your phone to your space.

I do this sometimes when I can't be bothered to connect my phone to the computer.

Then at your leisure you should be able to download the original, unaltered image files to a computer and do what you like with them.
