Hi all,

For my sins I am one of a happy band of old duds and dudess's volunteers at a country park in Northants.

It was formed around a now disused reservoir, and very nice it is there too!Smile

Amongst the old treatment stuff left behind many years ago is a lovely heath robinson bit of kit for washing clean the sand from the old filter beds, and in a moment of madness we have decided to restore it.

It is a 'Peebles' design sand washer made by Glenfield and Kennedy around the early 1920s. ( Ive been in touch with Glenfields and a chap there is going to try to find some info on it, if he can.
We have a water flow diagram for it and that's about all, BUT, on the casing are some patent numbers and dates :-

187451 dated 24th oct 1921
201108 dated 16th Jan 1923

Anyone of you clever folk know how to actually get to the patent information (without having to pay!!!), I've tried all sorts and I'm getting nowhere.Sad

Many thanks if anyone can help.

There is an Intellectual Property Office but I don't know if they keep records for expired patents, valid ones are listed for free.

Use the Espacenet website.
Full text, drawings and original document.
But you need to know to put 'GB' in front of those numbers you quote above as they're British patents. It was only ever patented in the UK and was out of patent at the latest at the start of WW2
Try this link.
