Should there be another name for mobile phones?
It seems that actually using phones to speak to other people is one of the least used functions for many. Texting, taking photos, getting information about virtually anything seem to be far more common activities. I know that mobile device is used but that is a bit of a mouthful. Any other suggestions?
Why not just 'mobile'? That's what I use.

“Avoidance unit” hmm...not much shorter... but I do get the feeling they can be used as a “shielding device” i.e. “Don’t approach/talk to me because I’m busy on this ‘ere phone of mine...and really don’t want to engage/converse with you, because I’m pretending to be busy..and can ignore you...”
Don’t know how to shorten that...
