Could someone please advise me?
I have just received a Sigma 10-20mm Canon fit lens I bought off Amazon. On their site is states it is suitable for a Canon EF fitting camera. I have also checked on other sites and they all seem to say the same.
On opening the parcel it has Canon AF written on it and when I compare the contact points against my other lens they are definitely different. I did gently try to fit it to my 350d but didn't want to force it.!!
Are these lens available for AF and EF or am I getting things wrong.?

If it says Canon AF then it should fit your 350d.

I have one that works fine on my 20D, it says nothing on the lens about being Canon fit or otherwise though, so perhaps the seller has mixed the lenses up with another mount?

Just checked mine. You need to align the white dot on the lens with the red dot on the body.
Both my Sigma boxes say Canon AF on them.

Many thanks for that. I did as you said and with some mis-givings I was a bit more determined and it clicked and seems to work fine. Phew!!

Thanks

The contacts on My Sigma 10-20mm are the same as my Canon 17-40mm & 100 macro. So they should be the same

Wonder why....... I only bought mine last year.... mine has a Red dot as well. Only got the one Sigma, the contacts are the same as all my 5 of my Canon lenses.

Mine is nearly 6 months old, but it matches white dot to red dot too, I've always thought it was odd!

My Sigma 18-50mm lens matches white dot (on lens barrel) to red dot (on camera body).

But on the lens flange, just under the white dot, is a red dot also - which matches with the body red dot.

Aha! I see it.......the white dot's on the edge of the AF-Manual Switch (which I though it was part of, it being much smaller than the Red dot)

AF simply means Auto Focus this isn't the lens mount. However as EF lenses allow for Auto Focusing whereas FD lenses didn't the lens cannot be FD mount.

Basically AF and EF have become largely interchangable terms for Canon lenses even though strictly speaking one refers to only the mount and the other to a feature of the lens

I think you mean you can't use it on a full frame sensor, as it will vignette badly.

The Sigma 10-20 comes in Nikon and Pentax fit as well. You may have been sent the wrong type.
