Duncan how long were you going to wait before upgrading. The 1.3x crop camera may not be a long term proposition. It may well go full frame again.

I am often (read usually) withing a couple of ft of the action (especially in skate parks) so need some serious wide angle to actually see what's going on.

I have been interested in obtaining a wide angle zoom to use with a D70s/D200. I have been reading reports on the sigma 10-20 and 12-24. I have been a bit concerned by some user comments regarding image softness, It may be worth looking into this before going ahead and spending hard earnt money!

It's not just skateboarding - I do a bit of mountain biking and a lot of BMX (ish) stuff, where wide angle is really all I use. I guess when people think "sports", they think of footballers 50m away or something? But that's only half of it.
