Update on this thread:

Some of you know that I purchased the Canon 1DMK2, I did a good amount of testing the Sigma 120-300EX DG in this combination and it works fine no problems at all, I cant honestly say what the problem was with the 20d and the lens, maybe it was the AF points etc.. but if your thinking of buying the 120-300 EXDG for a 20D and mostly use it on AI servo mode then do try B4 you buy and see if it produces any errors that I have had above?

Like I said in other threads So far I'm chuffed to bits with the MK2 its a whole different ball game, thanks to everyone that contributed, you saved me a trip to Sigma & not to mention being without my lens for 3 weeks!!! Hope this update will answer any future probs...

Thanks Again, forums do work :o)

Has anyone tried one of these on a Nikon? Looks like a great sports lens

If you go to the specialist sports 'tog websites an awful lot of them use the 120-300 as their first choice lens.

how tight do you find the zoom ring please.... i got mine from Fixation and it was very tight so I sent it back and they say they will try to get sigma to free it a tad... but then said that the man from sigma said that the lens was not intended to be used by sports photographers...... I DID LAUGH..
