My Sony fit 150-500 was faulty. Sent it back and Sigma confirmed it was too sloooW.
Now got a Canon fit 150-500mm on a new Canon 7D. Works a treat.

WELL! It works a treat on Largish subjects, but the small subjects is too SOFT..
It is not consistant. Sigma needs to get it's act together fastish. Let Sigma UK build these lenses instead of Japan. The Quality from UK was Great when they built lenses.
I might send mine back in a week or two. Going to do a few more tests with different settings on 7D.

I sent mine back on Monday 27/09/2010. It stoped focusing at the 400-500 end, had to refocus at 150mm then go up to 500mm and it would focus. Cost my 21 to post it and Sigma will not refund me. If I get any problems when it comes back I'm gona demand my cash back. They do NOT test the 150-500mm on a Canon 7D. They test it on a 50D. What is the point in that. They work pretty good on a 50D but loads have problems with it on 7D.
My serial number is one of the first batch. So I'm positive it is the same problem as in the serials they recalled.

Now saveing for a Canon 400mm f5.6.

You could try Canon 100-400 if you want the zoom and IS function, I found it more consistent than the 150-500 which is a shame as I wanted to buy the sigma.

I got a quandery at moo..Do I buy 100-400 (pump) or do I buy the 400 f5.6.

Obviously, if this Sig 150-500mm works better when I get it back, I'll probably either buy the Tamron 70-200f2.8 or the Canon 70-200mm f4. Me thinks the canon f4 would be sharper all round. Then next year I'll buy the 400f5.6 or 100-400mm. Decisions, decisions. I need to Rob a Banker quickly. Smile
