Silly question!!

Hello friends,

can anyone help me please?

I recently bought a Canon RC-1 remote control for my 450D.

According to the magazine Photoplus it is compatible with my camera.

My question is how do I use it? It came with batteries installed, would they be dud?

When this gadget works, where do I point the sensor?

Excuse me for being dumb, I've never used one of these before.

Well the batteries could be a dud - does it not come with any instructions?
As I understand it this is a laser remote and thus will only work when aimed at the front for your camera - I belive - which is where I would expect the sensor in the camera is (though I always thought these remotes worked by an external block that came with them which also faced forwards)

You need to point it towards the front of the camera, i.e. you need to be in front of the camera for it to work.

Seem to recall with my 300D I had to have the camera set to timer, only then would the remote work, you can fire instant shots or 2 second ones with it set like that, if I am remembering it right.
