To be honest they are a bit hit or miss. Most of the reults I obtained were dissapointing. If you really need dupes done then it's best to get a specialist to do this. It's not as expensive as many think... I get my 35mm duped onto medium format transparancy for 3.00 a time or on 35mm for 1.80... This gives great results, a lot better than can be had with any zoom duplicator.

Zoom slide duplicator - no.
Bellows with a slide copier and macro lens - yes with excellent results - including Fuji CDU film in the film era.
Now I use a Nikon ES-2 slide duplicator which requires a 60mm macro lens that I already have.
There are electronic slide duplicators on Amazon at less than 150 that do a job good enough for the web.
EDIT - just had a quick look on Amazon under slide duplicator.
There seems a wide range similar to the ES-2 system introduced by Nikon - mainly under 100 - though you still need a lens (maybe with extension tubes) that focuses to 1:1.

Like Len, I use the Nikon ES-2 with a Micro-Nikkor 60mm f2.8. Superb results. It is now on my old D700 which saves it gathering dust.
