At 80 plus years, fully retired, attempting to forget the woes of the world and the current political situation........

.......in between taking photographs, painting pictures and woodturning in my workshop ........

.......I like to watch a little TV in the afternoons.....but...why oh why does every other advert relate to ......old fogey’s life insurance....funeral plans.....or.....equity release etc.

As if I need reminding....

The one that really gets me, is the cheerful ?????? Bearded guy who, states that.....The policy, will either pay for my funeral.....or.....give them something to spend.....

I heartily agree with you. I just think if folk put the same amount into an interest account they would have more money by the time they died and ALL of the money would be the families and not some already rich-enough insurance company.

Donate your body to medical science and cut out the undertakers.

My wife pointed out recently that using an undertaker is optional. Apparently a DIY funeral is possible... she might live to regret this Wink (or maybe not)

Flat-pack coffins, there’s a new product suggestion for IKEA...

Flat pack coffins

And the trouble with donating your body to medical science, is that they can always refuse it - which puts the cost of a funeral back on the family.

Its almost as if those companies are trying to guilt you into passing them your money.

I know one close to me chap who started buying every readers digest offer they sent him just to win something or other as he felt overly compelled by their advertising to leave something substantial to his family. Needless to say all those amazing books sold on promises of prizes only ended up in the charity shop. I wish there was an older services ombudsman that could regulate that sector.
