Umm.. be careful with it and donít scratch it..?

down to the beholder/user, one person uses a fingernail, and complains bitterly if it suffers....to someone else, scraping against a hard object will upset them, Iíd tend to go for tried and tested...i.e. Lee.. not the DIY route..

I made one with the solar foil and a square filter holder.
It was very effective and gave me the opportunity to both photograph and observe the sun.

Although it did prove less dramatic than I anticipated.
That may have had more to do with the availability of time and cloud cover.

There's an image of the filter in this thread - as had been said above be very careful not to scratch the foil.

Options here than first though I think Iíll go the Cokin method till Iím sure I know what im doing then tell wifey the Volvo needs a new filter Wink
Dave how do I get the effect of seeing the surface of the sun without the glare with a filter I saw a B/W photo once it was possibly in ultraviolet it was stunning or would I need a Billion dollar satellite.

You're probably thinking of a hydrogen alpha filter

Different types of film give various end results. From yellow to white.

This might help.
