I have just recently bought a Sony A500 and I am looking for a relatively cheap telephoto lens. I have found these 3, the Sony is obviously the more expensive of the three and the Sigma and the Tameron are similar prices. I was wondering if anyone can advise me which would be best with my camera. Thanks in advance.

Hi Phill, I have the tamron 70-300 and have no complaints, reasonably sharp as long as you keep the aperture mid range. I've no experience of the others you mention, but have a look at where there is a rather large lens database for sony

I have the Sony 70-300 lens and it is excellent so I am unashamedly biased in suggesting the Sony 75-300 !

Also take note that Sony have a promotion on at the moment whereby you can claim back the V.A.T. ( assuming UK based )

So as the current price is c 179 it will in effect only cost c 153 Smile
