Does anyone have any advice regarding submissions into magazines or stock images for example shutterstock?

My main interest over the years has been transport, in the main the car rallies and have an extensive collection of images as well as some landscape shots of the north east. Somewhere in the loft is an old handbook from the freelance association which has since folded I believe.

Any advice welcome

Best bet is to spend some time in W H Smiths and browse the mags on display ! Get the names of the mags you're interested in and check their websites where they sometimes give details about submissions (usually at the very bottom of the web page). As you say you can also submit to Alamy, iStock etc..... however it's a very crowded market. For instance go to Alamy and search for 'steam tractor engine' (or whatever you're interested in ) and see how many there are !
