Kris, good light balance with flash and ambient....really nice. Only thing is, I think your light sources might be a touch too small as the car is unevenly lit, which gives it a bit of an "on-camera" look....its a bit TOO directional....but you have the balance utterly spot on. Those colours and tones in the sky are lovely, the colours pop from the car. I might have added another light to the back of the car to even it out though (if it was available of course). But cracking effort.....

Ade, I wasn't entirely sure what he was playing......can you explain what this strange implement is please? Wink

Lovely light balance mate and like the muted and slightly desaturated tones....goes well with the style and idea....good work!

strobes on cars are a tricky one really - a small light source lighting a huge car can result in patchy light. I've done it, but tend to use brollies to spread the light more - or use HDR actually. depends on the situation.

I sometimes use ND grads to get a Top Gear look.

Did my first off camera flash shoot last night and am quite pleased with the results, I think having used studio lighting a lot certainly helped, anyway here's an image from the shoot.

Good work! Nice use of the backlight as well. Seems as though you got a grasp pretty quick and have a nice base to build on with a start like this. Really good Smile

Thanks John, I normally hate location shoots as I prefer using studio lighting but having a softbox and OCF it just made such a difference.

Used a cheap ring flash and lit from a few inches above at about f8, the snail was about the size of a penny, focused on the eye.

I used an old nikon 50mm E seies pancake, the extension tube I made from a x2 converter, I simply removed the lens elements Smile
