Studio equipment - starter kits

I am thinking about buying a starter kit for studio photography (i.e. 2 flash heads, an umbrella and a softbox). I have not experience with studio photography. What would you recommend in terms of Watts (150W, 200W, more?), size of softbox and brollie? Any particular brand(s) you could recommend? My budget is around 400.
Thanks for your advices.

For 400 you can get a pretty nice setup. Power depends on the size of setup you have really. I've just ordered a set of 2 x 150W heads because I am looking at working in my lounge.

I've heard that the Elinchrom D-Lite 2's are a very good set of lights to own and they are 399 on Warehouse Express . Also some of the kits by Elemental are really highly rated.

I'm sure some of the more advanced/experienced photographers on here will have some more ideas for you.
