If I have 'supper' it is usually dry crackers or biscuits and a mild cheese spread, if I eat cheese in the evening I have wild dreams, if I eat blue cheese I have disturbing nightmares. This is contrary to some 'expert's' medical commentary and reports that I have read.
I have gone right off alcoholic drink. Don't know why.

Possibly a cheese sandwich, and a bottle of beer.
I've always taken supper to be a light snack before bed.

There are public schoo; connotations too.

Cheese shouldn't give you bad dreams (I think it was made up to put children off eating it) and I've undertaken a lot of research Wink

Which could be an example of the nocebo effect, rather than an actual physiological effect.

Of course - Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Bouquet) had lots of candlelit suppers. That just might say a lot!

Back in the early 70s, I had a 'client' at the DHSS whose name was Hogsflesh, and he insisted on it being pronounced 'Who-flay' (rhymes with soufflé)

Dinner at lunchtime (school dinner ?).
Tea anytime between 5-7 (proper dinner)
Supper anytime after 8pm (mints optional!!)
Late night snack (just before bed, in case you get peckish in the night)

If you were posh, it was High Tea at 4pm in the front room

Dinner tonight was minted lamb kebabs on noodles... with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc😁

😁😁😁

When I was still living at home - 16 or 17, Mum would despair. We'd have a hot dinner at 6pm, then at 8-ish I'd do myself scrambled eggs on toast - 4 or 5 eggs, 2 slices of toast - then at around 10pm I'd often have a bowl of cornflakes with a couple of sliced up bananas and get a right telling off for opening three or four pints of milk to take the cream off the top. I was a constant 12½ stone and 32" waist...I just burned it all off...

We've all forgotten about elevensies.
It seems we all eat, all day. Grin
